March 23, 2009

He's back! ... out in the field. So Michael left us again this morning. We found out on Wednesday of last week that he had been reassigned to serve in the South Carolina Columbia mission (Spanish Speaking) and that he would depart this morning. His mission president is Stephen L. McConkie, who we believe is either the son or nephew of the late Elder Bruce R. McConkie. He seems really excited about this new mission and we're excited for him as well. His only concern is that he had left half of his stuff down in Mexico. They are shipping it to his new mission and hopefully it all gets there! I couldn't believe he didn't bring it all home with him!

While he was home he was a great example as he strived to maintain a missionary mindset and attitude as much as possible, taking the lead in family scripture study and spending lots of time in the temple, especially over the last month and a half. He estimates that he probably did at least 30 sessions in the temple while he was home. Some times he would go and do three sessions back to back to back.

Well, it was nice to have him back with us for four months, but this is where he needs and wants to be! I'm sure he's off to have some great experiences as he shares the Gospel with the good people over there. See ya in December 2010 dawg!
