April 13, 2009

Hey guys! How was everyones easter??? I hope it was all good. So what did yall do for easter? (notice the yall? everyone really does say that down here!) haha and alot of people here instead of using T's like in street, they say skreet! they say go skraight down the skreet! haha they are awesome. well this week was pretty good. Except towards the end it was kinda rough. we were really struggling with finding people to teach. we would knock door after door, but they would be too busy or not interested or about to leave, or whatever. So we got lots of contacts but very few lessons and new investigators. But i know that because we are being 100% obedient, and praying for people to find the lord will bless us for our efforts. I told my companion that this must just mean an amazing week is around the corner! THe president has asked us to pray for miracles in the mission. And i know that as we follow our presidents council we will see miracles, and peoples lives will change. Speaking of changing lives i have a great quote for this week.

"Christ changes men, changed men can change the world. Men changed for christ will be captained by christ...Men captained by christ will be consumed in christ... Their will is swallowed up in his will. They do always those things that please the Lord. Not only would they die for the Lord, but more important they want to live for Him."
-President Ezra Taft Benson

I read that this week and i just really loved it! Also this week though we found a really good guy. His name is Clinton! haha he is hispanic and his name is clinton. I told him i would never forget his name cause my brothers name is that. haha But i was contacting him, and i felt prompted to make sure i tell him about Joseph Smith, and so as i was talking about him before i even said JOseph Smith, Clinton said. " oh yeah i know about this his name is Joseph Smith, Right?" Turns out his whole family is memebers back in mexico. But he isnt, so we are gunna go bac and teach him this week. Hopefully good things will happen with him.

Also easter sunday for us was great, we had alot of people there like people that were visiting myrtle beach. We didnt have any investigators come,,, WHich was kinda a bummer. But a return missionary sister spoke. It was amazing, she has one leg and served a mission, and spoke spanish on her mission. Her talk was amazing. She really wants to help us missionary out as well. so we were all for it. haha

We also had two easter dinners as well. The first was at 3 with a family that is a newly wed couple. They were way nice, and gave us little easter baskets. Then the next was at 6 with a recent convert of the english speaking elders, she is from Haiti and speaks french, spanish, english, creol, and one other i think. SHe is so awesome! it was her, her niece, and her son who are both in there 30's. they all can speak a bunch of different laguages. They are way funny too. The son is like a gangster black guy, but he has a heart of pure gold, and is a mommas boy. But he definitely talks like a gangster or bandallero! But they had been cooking since 11 saturday night. there was so much food, they said the goal was to have us holding or stomachs as we walked out cause we ate so much. haha Its so great to meet an interact with so many different types of people. You learn so much from everyone you meet.

Oh and yesterday we went to visit gabriel caus eh didnt come to church and we had only been able to see him once this week and it was real quick, and as we drove up we saw him, and then we parked and we got out of the car and walked up and he was gone and we asked if he was home and they said he had left. Meaning he ran inside and told them he wasnt home, and told them to tell us that we didnt need to come by and see him he would call us when he was home. So that basically means its a no with him. But his Cousin who is a recent convert thaty we are really close with, we are gunna have him talk to him to see what is going on. its just kinda weird. We think its the people he lives with that could be telling him stuff about the church. Its real sad. But we will see.

Also the other couple we have been teaching we found out they arent married.... so we have to get them married. We taught them the commandments and the wife is okay with all the commandments... But the husband drinks.... ALOT. so we gotta work with that but they wanna get baptized. They wanna see a baptism too, so we are gunna invite them to one so they can really feel th spirit. It will be great! They have the two cutest daughters too. They are 4 and 2 they love us too. ill try and get a picture with them maybe too if they get baptized to send to yall. They are adorable. and we give them pictures of jesus and they love to look at jesus. Its so amazing how sweet and christlike little children really are. They never fight, they are so kind to eachother. They remind me of Jadyn and harly. haha

Well i think that is all for this week. I love this gospel, and the light and peace that it brings. I know that as we do what we are supposed to, the Lord will always bless us. We must always share the things that we have with others too. How can we not share what we have? when there are so many opportunities especailly now with how the world is, to share the gospel, and give them that peace to know that evrything WILL be okay. I love this gospel and the joy i have going out and searching for people to teach and feel of his spirit and love. Have a great week!
